Action For A Polluted River

The pollution of the Aulencia River is a direct consequence of the water supply for the Community of Madrid in Spain. ‘Action For A Polluted River’ collects the contaminated material from the first drainage of the Valmayor reservoir sewage treatment plant that expels sludge with wastewater into the river and exhibits it in a video performance.

With dark matter travelling as a polluting agent through the waterbed, it becomes a new way of representing a real environmental problem through a cyclic and fluid experience. This video performance lasts 13’50” minutes. That’s how long it takes the performer to cover the whole construction. The sound of the video is the ambient noise itself, capturing the movement of human hands, being able to appreciate both the repeated strokes of the mud on the concrete and the sound of the river current.
