Liliana Alcalá Ortega
Artist, Video, Visual Art
Spain

Liliana Alcalá Ortega is a video artist from Andalusia, a Fine Arts graduate who, after completing two master’s degrees, splits her practice between the worlds of video art and film. She has already contributed to over ten projects in the directing department for films and series in Spain, working with platforms such as Netflix and Amazon.

Her visual narrative reveals an intimate and ambivalent body of work that leads us to explore the deepest layers of the self: identity. Her work emerges from the body and the feminine, focusing on the performative as the origin of storytelling.

Her work has been exhibited on numerous occasions at A/R/Tográfica (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022), as well as on other platforms dedicated to experimental video, including: the International Ultramar Video Series (2021); the First Experimental Video Showcase: C/A/RTOGRAPHIES OF THE IN/VISIBLE at the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH) (2023); and the audiovisual program “My Garden is a Slow Work,” organized by the Gender and Equality Research Institute at the University of Málaga (2023).
